The Historical Society of Ghana has partnered with local and international publishers to edit, produce and distribute academic publications. Featuring first on the list is Dr. Owusu Brempong's book titled "Rawling's Shoes and other therapeutic festival songs of Ghana - The Apoo". This is a study of a body of oral narrative which circulates in the form of songs during the celebration of Apoô festival, a traditional convention which every person in society, irrespective of his or her class, ethnic group, or race is given eleven days of liberty to lampoon, in the form of defamatory songs and proverbs, the faults and malpractice of any other persons, including those in authority, especially the chiefs.
